Itinerary

Day 1Shanghai to Luoyang by Train No. G1974 (Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station - Luoyanglongmen Railway Station) Dep 07:17 - Arr 12:59

We will deliver the train tickets from Shanghai to Luoyang to you after you pay the full price of the tour. After spending 6 hours on a high-speed train you will arrive Luoyang, one of the most historical cities in China. Your tour guide in Luoyang will welcome you at the railway station.

We know that you are desperate to see the true Kung Fu in Shaolin Temple, but Kung Fu is not only about powerful moves, but also about Buddhist spirit. So your first destination is the Longmen Grottoes, where you can touch Buddhist culture and spirit.

Longmen Grottoes – Initially built in 493 AD, there are around 100,000 Buddhist sculptures in the Longmen Grottoes, one of world heritages listed by UNESCO. Lots of moves of the Shaolin Kung Fu were designed according to the gestures of the sculptures. Besides, the Chinese calligraphy on the stone tablets in the grottoes is also worth to see. Even if you are not interested in Kung Fu, you can also learn about the culture, history, religion and economy of ancient China via these relics.

Luoyang Old City – The old city, with a history of over 3,000 years, is another place to learn about the history of Luoyang. It was a major market in ancient China and a start point for the Silk Road. The Lijing Gate, located in the west part of the old city, was the entrance of ancient Luoyang. It is recommended to try Luoyang food and buy souvenirs on in the area.

1. If you need train station transfer service in Shanghai, please feel free to tell us.

2. If you do not want an early train, please also feel free to tell us. We can arrange other trains for you, but you may need to spend one more night in Luoyang in order to visit all the attractions for this tour package. However, we are open to change the schedule for you.

It is said that all types of Chinese Kung Fu originated in Shaolin Temple. Your only destination today is the holy land for Kung Fu, where you will watch a Kung Fu show performed by the monks of Shaolin Temple. After the Kung Fu show, you can take a stroll in the temple to learn more about the Kung Fu.

Pagoda Forest – There is a forest of pagoda in the west part of Shaolin Temple. It is the graveyard for eminent monks. Every pagoda is a part of the tomb of a monk. The more eminent the monks were, the higher the pagodas are. There are totally 230 pagodas. Most of them were built in Ming Dynasty (1368-1644 AD). The pagodas in various shapes are the essence of ancient architecture.

After today’s tour, your tour guide will accompany you to the train station. Your train will arrive in Shanghai at 23:23. Feel free to contact us if you need transfer service from train station in Shanghai to the place where you live.

Deluxe Class is usually staying at a 5-star hotel, Superior Class at a 4-star hotel and Tourist Class at a 3-star level hotel. The prices for one person are based on sharing twin hotel rooms with another guest. A supplement is necessary if you want to book single rooms. And the prices may rise during national holidays, such as the National Day (September 30th to October 6th) and Chinese New Year (late January or early February)
