On this 4 day journey through Beijing, discover why China has been considered in many ways to be the cradle of ancient civilization. This tour will lead you to discover the magnificence of the Great Wall, Tiananmen Square, Forbidden City, Olympic Stadium, and many more iconic sites and cultural staples for a most complete China experience.
Upon your arrival, we will pick you up and take you to your hotel in the city. Feel free to enjoy the rest of the day as you wish; speak with your sale agent, hotel personnel, or guide for some suggestions on the best things to see and do in the hotel area.
Start your day by venturing to the heart of Beijing: Tiananmen Square. This is China's largest public square, and the site of many important political events throughout history. Nearby, you will also be able to see the Monument to the People's Heroes, Great Hall of the People, Mao Zedong Memorial Hall, and more. Tiananmen Square continues to be a symbol of national pride, and is a step away from the unparalleled Forbidden City.
Crossing from Tiananmen Square into the Forbidden City via the northern Gate of Heavenly Peace, you will be greeted with an incredible imperial complex. Ancient Chinese Astronomers believed that the Purple Star (Polaris) was in the center of heaven and the Heavenly Emperor lived in the Purple Palace. There are hundreds of ancient structures in the city complex, with the entire layout generally divided into the Inner and Outer Courts. Take your time when exploring the many halls, gates, palaces, galleries, corridors, and much more. Depending on the date, you may even see some special exhibitions and shows and the Treasure House is one among the exhibitions. The building has undergone 4 renovations in total and houses more than 440 rare relics from the Qing Dynasty royal collections. There are many that have never been shown elsewhere before!
Enjoy a nice meal at a local restaurant and conclude your day with a very authentic tour in a Beijing hutong in the Xicheng District. Hutongs are classic residential areas characteristic of the capital city. You will find intricate networks of alleyways, tight living spaces, and homes that feature beautiful courtyards typical of eras long gone. You will meet with a local family along the way. At the end, stop by the important Silver Ingot Bridge and your guide will introduce this highlight to you.
There are few more dramatic ways to begin a vacation in China than by visiting the Great Wall. In the morning you will visit the Mutianyu Great Wall section which was built in 1504 in the Ming Dynasty and the first section of the wall to be opened to the public. You will see some of the very famous battlements and watchtowers of the Great Wall as you take in the significance of this area’s history.
Dine at a local restaurant for lunch and you will visit a traditional Cloisonne Factory to learn about this colorful metal and enamel art form afterwards.
This will be your last day with us but you will still go on some excursions. First is the Temple of Heaven which is impressively considered the largest and most representative existing masterpiece among China's ancient sacrificial buildings. Explore the Inner Court and Outer Court with your guide, learning about the evident aspects and reflections of Taoist beliefs. Continue on to the Beijing Olympic Stadium, a symbol of the city's many minutes of fame in 2008 when China was the host of the 2008 Summer Olympics. You will be able to see from outside the infamous National Stadium (aka the Bird’s Nest) and the National Aquatics Center (dubbed the Water Cube) and much more.
After a fine meal at a local restaurant, we will take you to Beijing airport for your next journey. Thank you for exploring China with us!
We use different hotels for different tour classes while the itinerary is the same. Deluxe Class is usually staying at a 5-star hotel, Superior Class at a 4-star hotel and Tourist Class at a 3-star level hotel. The prices for one person are based on sharing twin hotel rooms with another guest. A supplement is necessary if you want to book single rooms. And the prices may rise during national holidays, such as the National Day (September 30th to October 6th) and Chinese New Year (late January or early February)
